Exposição de longa duração

Data

17 Janeiro 2019 - 31 Dezembro 2030

Local

Sobreviveram as Aves.

AMONG DINOSAURS

Did you know that not all of the Dinosaurs were extinct? To learn more, follow us on the adventure "AMONG DINOSAURS". In the exhibition we will discover different types of fossils and the processes that lead to their formation. We will then observe different types of dinosaur fossils, know the regions of Portugal where they are most abundant and conclude about the conditions that led to the formation of such fossils.

From the research carried out in the Museum, the exhibition shares information about excavation works, laboratory preparation and identification of Allosaurus fossils found in Andrés (Pombal). We will examine what different fossils and sediments may tell us about the ecosystems 150 million years ago.

The exhibition also explores aspects about Allosaurus: in what regions of the planet were they discovered? What characteristics did these Dinosaurs have? The answer to this question leads to the reflection about the diets of the dinosaurs, their life habits and the adaptations necessary for their survival.

Since Allosaurus is a theropod, we cannot forget that some Dinosaurs of this group evolved acquiring avian characteristics. We are therefore led to the conclusion that not all of the Dinosaurs were extinct 66 million years ago. The Birds survived.
